According to Odaily Planet Daily, South Korea's Financial Services Commission (FSC) is reviewing whether Hana Bank's acquisition of Dunamu shares violates the "separation of finance and virtual assets" regulatory rule. The FSC's Virtual Assets Division stated that Hana Bank's indirect holding of Dunamu shares through its acquisition of Kakao Investment shares is essentially an investment in a virtual asset trading platform, and therefore will be reviewed under the same regulatory standards. The report states that since 2017, the South Korean government has been using administrative guidance to restrict financial institutions from holding or purchasing virtual assets or making equity investments in related companies. If ultimately found to be in violation, Hana Bank's transaction may not be completed. Furthermore, Mirae Asset Consulting is currently pursuing the acquisition of Kobit's management rights, while Korea Investment & Securities remains cautious about related business.
