According to Yonhap News Agency, Kim, a former employee of SK Hynix's Chinese subsidiary, was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison on appeal for leaking company trade secrets to the Chinese company.
According to reports, in 2022, in order to switch jobs to Chinese companies such as Huawei's HiSilicon, Kim violated company security regulations by printing or photographing a large amount of cutting-edge technology and trade secrets related to CIS (CMOS image sensor) from the internal document management system. He then directly incorporated some of this content into his resume and submitted it to the Chinese company, thus completing the leak . Prosecutors charged him with violating the Industrial Technology Protection Act, the Unfair Competition Prevention Act, and breach of business responsibility. The court of first instance found him guilty of leaking trade secrets and sentenced him to one year and six months in prison. However, the court held that the Hybrid Bonding technology involved was not yet included in the scope of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's Advanced Technology Announcement at the time, and therefore the related charges were dismissed.
The Seoul High Court's Criminal Division 10-1 recently upheld the original verdict in its second instance ruling, stating that Kim's extensive disclosure of trade secrets and submission of them to Chinese companies in the form of resumes constituted a serious offense. These materials represented years of research and development investment by the victimized companies; lenient sentences in such cases would weaken their motivation for technological development and make it easier for overseas competitors to steal Korean technology through recruitment. The court also considered that Kim had pleaded fully guilty and that most of the materials had been recovered, and therefore did not increase the sentence.

Mike Dudas stated that he will not sell these tokens but will instead follow Ansem's approach and use them to encourage narrative dissemination.
Driven by this news, according to GMGN data, TOAD's market capitalization quickly rose to $20 million after its launch, but has since fallen back to $12 million, with a trading volume exceeding $52.1 million.
