Serenity: Still bullish on the storage sector, market focus shifts back to photonics.
According to BlockBeats, on August 9th, Serenity published an article stating that it remains bullish on the memory sector, represented by Micron (MU) and Samsung, and believes that the market tends to rotate between different supply bottlenecks. This week, photonics stocks such as AXTI and LITE have once again become the focus; compared to the decline in July, the main change has been in stock prices, followed by scattered narratives and business updates.
He pointed out that the market already knew during the July decline that COHR and LITE's laser products would be completely sold out for the next two years, and had also learned about the demand imbalance from AAOI's last quarterly earnings call. Apart from the stock price changes after the liquidation, the fundamentals of the photonics sector have not deteriorated; the bottlenecks in optical transceivers and indium phosphide substrates have not changed, and may even have worsened further.
Regarding storage, Serenity noted a capitulation among retail investors, whereas the same group had previously been extremely bullish after signing 16 SCAs at MU and providing excellent forecasts. They believe the current operating profit to market capitalization ratio in the storage business is "extremely unreasonable," and that demand imbalances may worsen next year; the only change for the same company is its valuation and narrative, with the market rotating between different sectors.

Odaily Planet Daily reports that Bitcoin's IP-110 proposal, which attempts to restrict the storage of non-financial data on the Bitcoin blockchain, has sparked controversy within the community. The market is watching closely to see if this controversy will escalate into a split in Bitcoin network governance. Blockstream CEO Adam Back criticized the arguments of BIP-110 supporters on the X platform, stating that the claim that "Bitcoin supports spam" is false and that all Bitcoin participants dislike network spam. Back pointed out that Bitcoin cannot achieve absolute censorship at a mathematical level, and that the BIP-110 proposal itself has many flaws and cannot function effectively, thus failing to gain network consensus. He emphasized that forcibly pushing for rule changes without consensus could ultimately lead to a fork similar to Bitcoin SV (BSV).

South Korea is considering relaxing the rules for reviewing major shareholders and granting access to VASPs (Vendor Shareholders' Listings), which may change the landscape of mergers and acquisitions on stock exchanges.
According to Odaily Planet Daily, the South Korean Regulatory Rationalization Committee has proposed amending the Enforcement Order of the Act on Specific Financial Transaction Information to exclude minor violations from the eligibility requirements for major shareholders of Virtual Asset Service Providers (VASPs). This has sparked discussions about exchange mergers and acquisitions, new business entry, and regulatory fairness. The proposed relaxation also raises questions about the boundaries of the Enforcement Order's authority. Since June 2024, South Korea has not approved any new VASP registration applications; therefore, changes in the major shareholder review standards could directly impact future exchange acquisitions, new business entry, and industry consolidation. Some argue that current law does not explicitly authorize the Enforcement Order to set relevant exceptions. Adjustments made solely through administrative orders may face legal challenges due to insufficient legal basis. The core issue for the current South Korean VASP industry is not short-term price fluctuations, but rather adjustments to the regulatory framework and market structure. Paragon has acquired the CAMBRICON token and may launch Cambricon contract trading soon.
According to BlockBeats, on August 9th, the HIP-3 decentralized exchange Paragon purchased the CAMBRICON token for 580.97 HYPE, and it may launch Cambricon perpetual contract trading in the next few days.
Cambricon is a Chinese artificial intelligence chip design company. The company is mainly engaged in the research, design and sales of core artificial intelligence chips. Its products cover cloud intelligent chips and accelerator cards, edge computing chips, IP licensing and basic system software, etc., targeting AI training and inference scenarios, and providing computing power support for servers and industries such as Internet, finance, transportation, energy and manufacturing.
