According to Beating AI News, Google has released Gemini Omni 1.1 Flash, a new version of Gemini Omni Flash that debuted in May and opened its API for public beta testing at the end of June.

The new version still maintains a maximum single-shot video length of 10 seconds, but for the first time, it adds video continuation to the Omni API. After a video is generated, it can now be continued. Each continuation can add another 10 seconds, with the entire video lasting up to 40 seconds. Each time a continuation is added, the model references up to 10 seconds of previous footage to ensure that characters, actions, and storylines flow smoothly.

Omni 1.1 also adds first and last frame control. Users can provide a start image and a finish image, allowing the model to automatically generate the continuous video in between. For example, if a shot starts with the subject standing at a distance and ends with them in front of the camera, the model will automatically complete the entire motion.

This update also includes a cheaper 360p draft mode, with the official claim of up to a 60% increase in system throughput at about one-third the cost of 720p.
