Gold and silver fell to two-week lows as soaring global bond yields weighed on precious metals.
According to BlockBeats, on September 1st, Bitget data showed that gold and silver prices continued their recent decline. The safe-haven demand for precious metals was temporarily suppressed by high interest rate pressures, influenced by a sell-off in major global bond markets and a rapid rise in long-term yields. Spot gold fell nearly 1.8% intraday to around $4370 per ounce, a new low since August 19th; spot silver fell nearly 3% to around $64.5 per ounce.
On that day, the yield on the 10-year US Treasury note rose above 4.75%, the yield on the 10-year German government bond reached a 15-year high, and the yield on the 10-year Japanese government bond broke through 3% for the first time since 1996. Market concerns that escalating tensions in the Middle East could push up oil prices and inflation, potentially forcing major central banks to maintain tight monetary policies or even raise interest rates further, thereby continuously increasing the opportunity cost of holding gold, a non-interest-bearing asset.
The market will now focus on the ADP employment data on September 2 and the US non-farm payroll report on September 4 to assess the Fed's interest rate hike expectations and the subsequent trend of bond yields.
BonkGuy: My current optimism about USELESS surpasses that of BONK; last year's $4 million to $450 million increase was merely a "test run."
According to Odaily Planet Daily, crypto trader BonkGuy stated that USELESS is currently his most favored token, even more so than when he traded BONK at its low point in 2023. BonkGuy recalled previously making significant profits through meme coins such as BONK, WIF, Fartcoin, POPCAT, and PNUT. He once turned $16,000 into over $20 million with 6x leverage on BONK, and a $6,000 WIF position into approximately $1.4 million. However, he also noted that these profits were largely wiped out during the "10/10" market crash. Regarding USELESS, BonkGuy believes its market capitalization surge from approximately $4 million to $450 million last year was merely a "test run," and that it occurred outside of a bull market environment. He predicts that if USELESS experiences its first full bull market cycle, its price could see a much larger increase.

According to MSX.COM data, GoPro's stock price surged over 106% in pre-market trading and is currently up approximately 82%. This surge is attributed to YouTube star Markiplier becoming GoPro's largest shareholder.
