US media reveals inside story of the US-Iran ceasefire agreement: The Iranian president and central bank governor jointly urged the Supreme Leader to "sign it quickly."
According to BlockBeats, on July 4, citing The New York Times, four officials familiar with the details of the meeting revealed that Iranian President Pezechzian visited Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei in the final stages of negotiations when Khamenei hesitated to approve the preliminary ceasefire agreement.
The Iranian president told the Supreme Leader that the economic situation was dire and that the US naval blockade was strangling Iran; he threatened to resign if the agreement was rejected. Meanwhile, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdel Nasser Hemmati, also wrote to Khamenei, stating that the country faced a severe budget crisis and that critical food and medical supplies would run out by the end of August if the naval blockade continued. Hemmati explained in his letter that Iran could not sell oil on the required scale or find alternative trade routes.
These statements played a crucial role in Mujtaba's eventual decision to support the agreement. In a brief public statement, he indicated that while he opposed the agreement "in principle," he would instruct the president to proceed if he secured the support of the Supreme National Security Council. Pezechian stated that the council approved the agreement by 12 out of 13 votes.

Odaily Planet Daily reports that digital banking and fintech platform Revolut has notified some users that it will officially delist the USD stablecoin Tether (USDT) after August 31, 2026, and will automatically convert users' remaining holdings into their base fiat currency at the exchange rate on that day. According to the official notice, Revolut will cease USDT purchase services from July 6th and suspend USDT deposits after July 30th; any incoming USDT will be rejected immediately. If users do not sell or withdraw their USDT by the end of August, their holdings will be automatically converted into their account's base currency. The company attributes this adjustment to "regulatory and risk-related considerations," but did not specify the triggering regulatory framework.
