Previously, during the deployment of the long-term fix, an epoch termination pause was triggered. This was because the random number initialization program, which runs at the beginning of each epoch, failed to complete when validator nodes restarted and deployed the new binary file. This was due to the validator nodes' quorum threshold exceeding that of Sui's consensus mechanism, and a potential vulnerability in the fault state preservation mechanism, preventing the network from transitioning to the next epoch. The validator nodes have now completed the fix, resolving the underlying vulnerability and the affected epochs, and network activity has returned to normal.
