eToro Expands Trading Hours, Launches Tokenized Stock Initiative

Trading platform eToro announced significant expansions to its product offerings during a global webinar on July 29, introducing extended trading hours and advancing its tokenization strategy with plans to launch US-listed stocks as blockchain tokens.

The company will extend its 24/5 trading capabilities to include 100 of the most popular US-listed stocks and ETFs, allowing users to trade these securities as underlying assets around the clock except on weekends. This builds on eToro's existing extended hours trading infrastructure.

eToro also revealed plans to tokenize US equities as ERC20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain, marking a major step in the company's blockchain integration strategy. The tokenized stocks will allow users to move assets onto the blockchain and integrate them with decentralized finance (DeFi) protocols, while maintaining the ability to redeem tokens for underlying positions on the platform.

"Blockchain technology will facilitate the greatest ever transfer of wealth, as traditional assets are tokenized and moved onto the blockchain," said eToro co-founder and CEO Yoni Assia during the webinar, according to a company press release .

The platform has expanded its futures trading through a collaboration with CME Group, launching spot-quoted futures contracts currently available in select European markets. These contracts offer traditional futures benefits through smaller, more accessible contract sizes with familiar spot-based pricing.

eToro's tokenization efforts date back to 2012 when Assia co-authored the Colored Coins whitepaper. The company previously launched tokenized gold (GOLDX) and silver (SLVX) in 2019 following its acquisition of Danish token startup Firmo.

The company positioned these developments within the context of evolving regulations, citing Europe's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation and the US Genius Act as catalysts enabling broader tokenization of real-world assets.

eToro's stock (NASDAQ: ETOR) debuted in May 2025 on the Nasdaq exchange. The company said it plans to gradually expand access to its new futures products across its global user base.
