根据 99 Bitcoins 2017年全年，比特币被死亡125次；2018年被死亡90次。
圣克拉拉大学经济学教授就曾经批评比特币“永远不会有类似黄金的储值功能，所以玩家都应该放弃比特币”，并且在他发表的言论中说比特币“命悬一线”；堪萨斯投资公司，Creative Planning董事长Peter Mallouk表示“比特币已经病入膏肓”。可是被死亡和走低谷的比特币就是越走越高，尤其今年一度在Google搜索上超过了特朗普的搜索量（怪不得喜欢被关注的特大总统讨厌比特币！）。比特币就是在不断被死亡中走进了主流视野。
