According to BlockBeats, Bloomberg reported on September 7 that Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Bagheei said on Monday that Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on shipping management in the Strait of Hormuz, which is in its final stages and is expected to be completed within days. The two sides plan to establish a temporary safe passage and submit the arrangements to the International Maritime Organization for record-keeping.

Bagay stated that the negotiations were progressing "very smoothly" and hoped there would be no interference from third parties. If the agreement is finalized, it could encourage more oil tankers and merchant ships to use this crucial global energy transport route and reduce the risk of Iranian attacks on shipping.

Currently, approximately 7 million barrels of crude oil and refined petroleum products pass through the Strait of Hormuz daily, far below the pre-conflict level of about 20 million barrels per day. However, Iran and Oman's plans to strengthen shipping control over the strait may indicate a further strengthening of Iran's de facto control over this crucial passage. The United States, on the other hand, hopes to restore the Strait of Hormuz to its pre-war free passage status, and significant differences remain between the two sides.

The US-Iran conflict has now entered its seventh month, and the continued blockade of the Strait of Hormuz is driving up oil, fuel, and natural gas prices, exacerbating global inflationary pressures. Meanwhile, US diesel prices have reached record highs, and rising energy costs are putting the Trump administration under increasing political pressure.
