According to BlockBeats, on September 7th, Changxin Memory announced on its official WeChat account that its self-developed LPDDR6 chip has achieved mass production and commercial use, and was first used in the Xiaomi 18 Fold foldable flagship phone. This marks the first time globally that LPDDR6 products have been commercially deployed in a flagship mobile phone.
According to Changxin's semi-annual report, the performance of Changxin's LPDDR6 chips has achieved a comprehensive leap compared to the previous generation LPDDR5X: through architectural innovation and data transmission optimization technology, the data transmission potential is fully released, with a peak rate of 12800Mbps and a maximum chip capacity of 16GB.
LPDDR6 is the latest generation of LPDDR products internationally. The international standards organization JEDEC will release the LPDDR6 standard for the first time in July 2025. In March of this year, news circulated in the industry that Changxin's LPDDR6 products had been submitted for testing. From standard alignment, product sampling, verification to mass production and commercialization, Changxin has finally achieved the world's first launch of LPDDR6.
With the explosive growth in AI demand, LPDDR6 is regarded as a key pillar for releasing AI computing power on the edge. Its application scenarios cover devices such as smartphones and PCs, and extend to smart cockpits, AI data centers, etc. It also lays a key foundation for domestic mobile phone and other terminal manufacturers to seize AI opportunities.
