EDG is Edgeware's token, and its holders can use on-chain voting to vote to upgrade the network, after which nodes are automatically updated to the latest version, thus creating a blockchain system with low coordination overhead and transparency. Edgeware is Polkadot's first smart contract public chain, which aims to build a high-performance, on-chain autonomous WASM smart contract platform.
