Covalent is dedicated to addressing the huge infrastructure issues that stand in the way of blockchain adoption. The first version was built at a hackathon in fall 2017.

There are many elements of Covalent that make us unique in the marketplace. However, the core difference between us and projects like Graph is this:

We are the only project that has fully indexed the entire blockchain -- meaning every contract, every wallet address and every transaction. That's billions of lines of data and terabytes of data. Other projects provide only a fraction of the data available, or start collecting data only after the appropriate queries or filters are set up.

Composability is a key part of decentralized Finance (DeFi) applications, allowing developers to quickly and easily build financial solutions using "Legos like" building blocks from numerous projects. We believe in providing our users with no code solutions. This means there are no complex SQL queries, no development and maintenance of subgraphs, and no need to invest in highly skilled (and costly to read) developers to simply retrieve blockchain data, a huge waste of engineering time.
