According to a Reuters report on August 1st, Alphabet, Google's parent company, said it is rolling back its AI image generation feature launched in Google Earth just one day earlier because user-shared images appear to violate company policies.
This feature, powered by Google’s Nano Banana 2 AI model, allows users to generate realistic images of any location on Earth based on Google Earth satellites, aerial photography, and 3D imagery by entering text prompts.
The tool has been criticized for potentially spreading misinformation because it allows users to create fake scenes over real images of historical sites and landmarks.
