Odaily Planet Daily reports that Major League Baseball (MLB) has reached new agreements with Polymarket and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). MLB has established an exclusive partnership with Polymarket, allowing the latter to use its trademarks and logos, and Polymarket will receive promotional placements on the MLB website and at games. MLB has also signed a memorandum of understanding with the CFTC covering information sharing and the protection of game integrity. MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred stated that the new agreements with Polymarket and the CFTC are a key step in proactively managing the rapidly growing prediction market sector. MLB will work with Polymarket to restrict transactions involving game integrity risks, such as contracts related to individual pitching, coaching decisions, and umpire performance. Currently, the CFTC is seeking to solidify its position as the sole regulatory body for prediction markets, while state officials consider prediction markets to be gambling operations. This week, the Arizona Attorney General filed criminal charges against Kalshi, alleging that it operated an illegal betting platform. Kalshi CEO Tarek Mansour and CFTC Chairman Michael Selig both called the charges an overreach of state authority.
