Bybit has expanded its Copy Trading feature to include TradFi Perpetual Contracts, allowing users to mirror positions on equities such as Tesla, Apple, and NVIDIA in addition to standard crypto pairs. According to the official announcement , this marks the first time the exchange’s copy trading tool has offered exposure to non-crypto assets, with all positions settled in USDT.

The update means Master Traders on Bybit Copy Trading Classic can now take positions in TradFi Perps alongside their crypto trades, and any user following them will automatically replicate those positions. Because TradFi Perps trade as perpetual contracts rather than through traditional exchange-listed shares, they remain open 24/7, matching the always-on trading pattern already familiar to crypto users.

How the feature works for Copy Trading users

To use the new functionality, an eligible Bybit user selects a Master Trader who takes positions in TradFi Perps and follows them through Copy Trading Classic, the same process already used for crypto-only copy trading. Once linked, the follower’s account mirrors both the crypto and TradFi positions taken by that trader, with position sizing scaled to the follower’s allocated funds rather than requiring manual replication of each trade. The mechanics stay consistent with Bybit’s existing copy trading structure, rather than introducing a separate interface for equities exposure.

Unlike direct equity ownership, TradFi Perps are cash-settled derivative contracts, meaning users gain price exposure to the underlying stock without holding actual shares or the rights that come with them, such as voting or dividends. This structure is consistent with how perpetual contracts already function for crypto assets on Bybit, and it is what allows TradFi Perps to trade continuously rather than being limited to the hours of the underlying stock exchange.

For retail traders, the appeal lies in simplifying access to two different asset classes through one account. Rather than opening a brokerage account to trade equities and a separate exchange account to trade crypto, a Bybit user can now do both through Copy Trading Classic, following traders who allocate across TradFi Perps and crypto pairs in a single portfolio. This is most relevant to users who already rely on copy trading as a way to participate in markets without actively managing their own positions, since the same passive structure now extends to equities exposure.

Part of a broader shift toward TradFi assets on crypto platforms

The timing reflects a broader shift already underway across crypto-native trading platforms, which have increasingly moved into markets traditionally served by brokerages. Bybit cites data showing that the monthly trading volume of TradFi assets on major crypto exchanges grew 117 times over the 18 months to June 2026, rising from $3.32 billion in January 2025 to $387.39 billion in June 2026. Cumulative TradFi perpetual contract volume in the first five months of 2026 reached $1.32 trillion, about 12.7 times the $104.21 billion recorded across all of 2025.

Bybit frames the Copy Trading update as part of a broader push toward what it calls a New Financial Platform, a positioning that extends beyond crypto pairs into stocks, gold, and other traditional assets accessed through perpetual contract structures. Copy Trading is one of several products the exchange is using to distribute this expanded asset access to retail users, rather than treating TradFi Perps as a standalone offering aimed only at more experienced traders.

Open questions around scope and access

The three assets named in the announcement, Tesla, Apple, and NVIDIA, are among the most heavily traded companies in US equity markets. The announcement does not specify how many additional TradFi assets will be available at launch, or whether the list will expand to include other equities, indices, or commodities over time. It also does not clarify whether TradFi Perps on Copy Trading Classic will be available to users in every jurisdiction Bybit serves, a relevant question given that access to stock-linked derivatives through crypto exchanges is treated differently across regulatory regimes. Bybit’s announcement notes that terms and conditions apply, without detailing eligibility criteria for either Master Traders offering TradFi positions or the followers replicating them.

The TradFi Perps option is live now within Bybit Copy Trading Classic, alongside the platform’s existing crypto-only copy trading options.
