Bitcoin ETFs Pull In $999 Million in a Day as BTC Holds Above $86,000

U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $999 million in net inflows on Monday, Sept. 21, according to Farside Investors data, with BlackRock's IBIT leading at $381 million. Spot Ether ETFs added $270 million on the same day, with BlackRock's ETHA taking in $110 million. Data for Tuesday's ETF flows was not available at publication time.

Bitcoin traded at about $86,558 as of Wednesday morning in Asia, up 1.25% over 24 hours and 13.9% over the past week, according to Coinmarketcap. Ether was at roughly $2,764, up 0.5% on the day and 15.2% on the week. Total crypto market capitalisation stood at $3.04 trillion, up 1.1%.

The Bitcoin inflows were spread more widely than IBIT alone. ARK 21Shares' ARKB drew $289 million and Fidelity's FBTC $239 million, while Morgan Stanley's MSBT added $62 million and Bitwise's BITB $22 million, per Farside's per-fund breakdown. Grayscale's GBTC posted a small $3 million inflow.

Monday was the third straight session of net inflows, bringing the total since Sept. 17 to roughly $1.59 billion. That follows two heavy days of redemptions earlier in the month, when the funds shed $450 million on Sept. 15 and $296 million on Sept. 16. The swing in flows has tracked the price closely, with Bitcoin climbing from below $76,000 a week ago.

On the Ether side, Fidelity's FETH brought in $73 million and Grayscale's Ethereum Mini Trust $59 million. Monday's figure followed $144 million of inflows on Sept. 18, after the Ether funds had posted outflows in each of the three prior sessions.

Among large-cap altcoins, XRP rose 4.1% to $1.59 over the past 24 hours, while Zcash gained 8.5% to about $1,616, making it the strongest performer in CoinGecko's top 10. BNB was up 0.8% at around $791, largely unmoved by reports that U.S. prosecutors are investigating Binance over possible Iran sanctions violations. CoinMarketCap's Fear & Greed Index read 78, in "greed" territory.

Despite the rebound, both major assets remain well below their records. Bitcoin is about 31% under its all-time high of $126,080 set on Oct. 6, 2025, and Ether sits 44% below its August 2025 peak of $4,946. Flow data for Tuesday, Sept. 22, had not been published at the time of writing, and whether the ETF bid holds through the end of the month will be the clearest signal of whether this week's move has institutional follow-through.
