Metaplanet, holding 43,000 BTC, is researching Bitcoin-collateralized digital bonds.

Metaplanet announced on July 10, 2026, that it is collaborating with JPYC, Progmat, and Metaplanet Securities to research Bitcoin-backed digital lending products. The plan includes using Bitcoin as collateral for tokenized instruments, such as digital corporate bonds settled in Japanese yen stablecoins and managed by security tokens. Metaplanet held approximately 43,000 BTC as of the end of the second quarter of 2026, valued at $2.75 billion based on Saturday's BTC exchange rate. Metaplanet stated that the research has not yet resulted in any product launch, and the release date, interest rate, product structure, or sales method are undetermined.
