Apple, Google Post Job Listings Hinting at Stablecoin, Tokenized-Deposit Ambitions

Apple and Google have each posted job listings seeking candidates with stablecoin and tokenized-deposit expertise, a signal that both companies are exploring how digital-asset infrastructure could plug into their existing payment and cloud businesses, according to Decrypt's reporting on the listings .

Neither listing announces a new product, and both companies frame the roles around evaluating and advising on blockchain-related work rather than building it outright.

Apple's listing, for a Financial Product Strategy Lead on its Apple Pay team in New York, asks candidates to help shape products supporting Apple Card and Apple Cash within Apple's Wallets, Payments and Commerce organization, evaluating new product structures, commercial models and partnerships. Among its preferred qualifications, the posting lists understanding of stablecoins, tokenized deposits and blockchain technology alongside more conventional experience in peer-to-peer payments, credit cards and international payment systems, describing the ideal hire as someone who can "blend analytical rigor with a strong business sense" and "drive projects forward."

Google's posting, for an Industry Principal Architect for Web3 based in Hong Kong, sits inside Google Cloud and calls for advising blockchain foundations, exchanges, custodians and fintech institutions while identifying friction points across the Web3 industry and feeding that back into Google Cloud's product roadmap. Required expertise includes stablecoin payment systems, tokenized deposits and custody infrastructure, blockchain validators and smart contracts, and familiarity with Hong Kong-specific compliance regimes under the Hong Kong Monetary Authority and the Securities and Futures Commission, according to Decrypt's reporting. The Hong Kong location is notable given Google already backs the Google Cloud Universal Ledger and supports the Open USD stablecoin project, and a regional architect role suggests the company wants deeper institutional relationships in one of Asia's more advanced digital-asset regulatory jurisdictions specifically.

Neither posting commits either company to launching a stablecoin, and Decrypt's reporting is explicit that the listings alone do not confirm imminent products. But the timing lands alongside a broader pattern of legacy payments and technology incumbents building out stablecoin-adjacent capabilities, including Visa and Mastercard's own expansion of stablecoin settlement rails, a shift that suggests stablecoin infrastructure is increasingly viewed across Big Tech as core payments plumbing worth having in-house expertise on, rather than a niche crypto-industry concern.
