Beating AI News Robinhood allowed users to access third-party AI Agents for trading via MCP in May this year, and by late September announced the direct integration of Agents into its App. At that time, over 150,000 customers had already opened dedicated trading accounts. CEO Vlad Tenev predicted in a recent interview that a significant portion of retail trading will soon be initiated by AI. Agents can monitor markets 24/7 and handle trades across various assets such as stocks, options, and cryptocurrencies, though most funds are likely to remain held long-term.

Tenev also proposed a bolder vision: enabling retail investors to deploy their trading strategies on servers located near exchanges. Wall Street high-frequency trading firms have long placed their servers close to exchange matching systems to minimize order latency. He hopes ordinary investors won't need to understand data centers or network engineering to access such infrastructure. However, Robinhood has not yet offered this service, nor has it announced a timeline for launch.

As for how much money AI can access, Robinhood still limits it through separate accounts. Agents can view information from users' other accounts but can only place orders within dedicated accounts, with funds requiring manual transfer by users. Tenev admitted that technically connecting directly to the main account is not difficult, but the company has chosen to gradually expand permissions. Built-in Agents default to requiring user approval for each transaction, which can be manually disabled; external Agents accessed via MCP default to no per-trade approval, requiring users to enable approval themselves.
