Valour, the digital asset exchange-traded product arm of DeFi Technologies, is moving into actively managed funds, launching Smart Crypto Fund SP on September 21 as the first hedge fund under its new Valour Funds SPC business, according to a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission . The fund pairs Valour’s institutional infrastructure with an artificial intelligence strategy from Swiss portfolio manager Neuronomics AG and is open only to professional and qualified investors, not retail.
An AI strategy that adjusts exposure
Instead of holding a fixed basket of assets, Smart Crypto Fund SP uses Neuronomics’ proprietary AI ensemble to decide what to hold, how much risk to take, and when to reduce exposure. The models analyze price, volume and other market data over short and medium horizons, with positions confined by predefined risk budgets, per-asset limits and concentration controls, and trades executed through algorithms selected for market liquidity and expected transaction costs. “Our proprietary AI ensemble helps separate signal from noise and translates forecasts into disciplined portfolio decisions,” said Dr. Michael Kometer, founder and CEO of Neuronomics AG.
Expanding beyond ETPs
The fund extends Valour’s range of more than 100 digital asset ETPs , the largest lineup of any digital asset manager globally, into actively managed strategies. Valour Funds SPC is a Cayman Islands company registered with the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, and the structure separates investment management, administration, custody and execution across specialist service providers covering fund administration, banking and audit. “We are expanding Valour’s investment offering beyond exchange traded products and into actively managed hedge fund strategies,” said Johan Wattenström, CEO and chairman of DeFi Technologies.
What the launch signals
The hedge fund gives DeFi Technologies, which recently secured a 180-day extension from Nasdaq to address its minimum bid price, a new institutional channel beyond its public-market products. DeFi Technologies holds a minority stake in Neuronomics, a FINMA-authorized Swiss portfolio manager, and the fund draws on the company’s broader infrastructure, including trading and liquidity arm Stillman Digital. The move reflects rising demand for actively managed digital asset strategies as institutions look beyond passive ETP exposure. Performance is not guaranteed: results will depend on how well the AI models navigate volatile markets, and access remains limited to professional and qualified investors.
