BlockBeats reported on September 6th that Harmony announced its plan to completely shut down the Harmony network and migrate its native token ONE to Ethereum, citing the excessive threat posed by state-sponsored attackers and AI agents. According to the proposal, validators can cease running nodes starting at 7:00 AM Pacific Time on September 10, 2026. The company will shift its focus to the "AI video derivative economy." This project plans to provide prompts and materials for creators and fans to create derivative works, which will then be expanded into more stories by AI agents.
The migration plan proposes to take a snapshot of the last block of the network and airdrop the new ONE to the same Ethereum wallet address, without requiring users to actively claim it; delegated staking and unclaimed rewards will go into the vaults of the respective governance units. However, multisignature wallets, liquidity pools, and on-chain applications cannot be migrated. Harmony urges users to exit all smart contracts by September 10, 2026.
In its AI video business, Harmony is recruiting operators responsible for video generation, media distribution, and content moderation. In the first year, the platform will subsidize hardware costs and drive demand for video generation. Operators must stake tokens to qualify and will receive rewards based on the online duration of their generation services, while also bearing other operating costs. The platform will also track and incentivize contributions to original content, derivative works, and promotion.
Validators can cease running their nodes starting at 7:00 AM Pacific Time on September 10th. Harmony plans to provide a one-time compensation of $1.372 million to validators and their delegators who shut down their nodes on time, sign the agreement, retain their stake, and continue to participate in governance, to be distributed over four quarters. The total supply and issuance rate of ONE will remain unchanged. Subsequent token issuance is intended for the AI video project, and related arrangements will be subject to feedback from governance.
