A hasty switch from the existing signature mechanism to a quantum-resistant (PQ) scheme could expose Bitcoin to classical computing attacks in the short term. PQ signatures could increase in size by 10 to 125 times, significantly reducing network throughput and potentially triggering a repeat of the scaling controversy of the early "block wars." Furthermore, Mow warned that some PQ schemes may have potential backdoor risks.
