The attack initially resulted in the theft of over $5.8 million in assets. The attackers have since returned approximately $2 million and retained about $2 million as a "bug bounty."

As previously reported by BlockBeats, on May 7th, according to PyShield monitoring, TrustedVolumes was attacked, resulting in the loss of approximately $5.9 million in assets, including approximately $3.02 million worth of ETH, $1.37 million worth of WBTC, and $1.47 million worth of stablecoins. The attackers have already exchanged the stolen funds for approximately 2,513 ETH.

Meanwhile, hardware wallets, equipped with independent displays that allow users to verify transaction information before signing, remain the most robust self-custody solution for ordinary crypto users.
