BitcoinCash ABC 于 2021 年 7 月1 日正式更名为 eCASH， 代币名称由 BCHA 更改为XEC, 且按照1 BCHA=1,000,000 XEC 进行拆分。原因是矿工和开发商之间存在分歧，超过 8% 的挖矿奖励资金被投入区块链开发基金。分叉后不久，比特币现金 ABC 的创建者意识到，如果继续沿用目前的道路，加密货币将永远不会被广泛采用。因此，2021 年 7 月 1 日，于是他将BitcoinCash ABC的整个加密货币重新命名为 eCash。
重新命名的部分原因是为了减少硬币需要的小数位数，因为这使人们很难跟踪他们的硬币。eCash只有两位小数，与法定货币保持一致。此外，eCash 系统现在可以在 Avalanche共识算法上运行。这意味着它是股权共识机制的证明，并且交易几乎可以立即得到确认。更不用说这消除了未来硬分叉的可能性，这是自 2017 年以来一直困扰比特币现金系统的一个问题，导致每次开发人员和矿工之间出现分歧时都会出现多次硬分叉。
