KNC币是交易所Kyber Network的平台代币。而Kyber Network是一个无须信任第三方的去中心化交易所，它可以促进加密资产间的即时转换/兑换。通过Kyber Network，用户可以用代币A支付给希望得到代币B付款的相应接收者，整个过程一步到位。不仅如此，Kyber Network还推出新的智能合约接口，在不需要修改代币合约代码的情况下，允许现有只接受特定代币的钱包去接受任意已有的或未来可能出现的代币（如 PAY 和CVC）。也就是说，Kyber Network使智能合约和付款接受者接触到更广泛的用户，并且接收那些平台支持的任意代币的付款。
Kyber Network用创新的方式来保证流动性，无须信任性以及代币的即时兑换性，其中包括储备管理者、储备贡献者、动态储备库及管理储备的智能合约。前述每一个参与者都以不同的方式与智能合约交互，Kyber Network 中的动态储备库能满足用户的请求，一步到位实现任意代币的转换。
此外，Kyber Network允许多个储备共存，平台可以在一系列对比中为用户提供最优兑换率。除了运营者，与Kyber Network无关的个人或组织也可以注册参与到这一系统来为整个储备库做出贡献，并成为其个人资产的储备管理者。这样的话，Kyber Network实际上为那些低交易量的代币提供了更多的兑换及交易渠道。Kyber Network并不持有独立储备管理者管理的储备资金（这些资金存储在储备合约中），而是确保他们的储备合约符合Kyber Network平台的条款。
