BELLSCOIN is a Scrypt cryptocurrency based on the Nintendo game Animal Crossing. It was published on bitcointalk and was released approximately 8 days before DOGECOIN in 2013. The original idea was to create a cryptocurrency based on the Nintendo game Animal Crossing. In Animal Crossing, BELLSCOIN is the primary currency earned through various activities such as collecting fruit, catching bugs, fishing, and digging for fossils. However, as Dogecoin began to rise, the blockchain was permanently taken offline in late 2014. BELLSCOIN was scrapped and reset. Fortunately, the community re-enabled it in 2023, and more nodes came online one after another.
